Unmet Needs Must Be Heard

 




It is human to have needs! Some of us like to think of ourselves as superheroes who fly around the city helping others without ever needing to stop for so much as a lunch break. Yet, at the end of the day, if we only care for others our own needs will be left unmet and even perhaps come out through some back channels.


Unmet needs may look like:

  • Anxiety
Need: Security, stability

  • Numb
Need: A safe space to voice your feelings, time to acknowledge them

  • Distrust
Need: Open and honest communication, loyalty

  • Resentful

Need: Feeling heard, supported, noticed

  • Stressed
Need: Prioritizing self care and your own mental health


If any of those symptoms resonated with you, let me encourage you that you are not broken, you are just needy. Our society has a negative connotation on the term “needy” making it seem like it is something to be ashamed of, yet that is anything but the truth.
